An arc is a portion of the circumference of a circle. In the figure above, the arc is the blue part of the circle. Strictly speaking, an arc could be a portion of some other curved shape, such as an ellipse, but it almost always refers to a circle. To avoid all possible mistakes, it is sometimes called a circular arc.

Arc creation is a regular or we say an important command in AutoCAD. Making an arc in AutoCAD is quite easy classes task. To make an arc basically, we need three points, a centre, sometimes arc length and radius. Creation of an arc is subdivided into ten types or we say we can create an arc by 10 types according to your need. So let’s start the creation of an arc.

__TYPE 1:- CREATION OF AN ARC BY THREE POINTS__**.**

As we see in this image we need only 3 points for making an arc in AutoCAD. This is the best way of making an arc. Just click on the command and when command activates. Define three points and then left click from mouse on desired area on main screen and after clicking we see an imaginary line is following the curser for angle and length of line, again left click on desired location as we see our second point is created and now we proceed for the third point and the same procedure is followed same as we do for the second point, again left click on desired location in designing screen and at last our arc has made on our screen. So this is the method for creation of an arc by three points command. This command is basically used when we cut section of a circle and any other half or semi half designing solids. This arc method is used when already many points are shown, this method can able to make a major and minor arc both in AutoCAD.

__TYPE 2:- CREATION OF ARC BY START POINT, CENTRE, ENDPOINT.__

As shown in the image we need three points i.e. start point, a centre and endpoint. This method is basically used between parallel lines and between parallel circles where we easily define centre point in AutoCAD. Same procedure we follow for starting point click and after clicking on start point we now need a centre point, if u notice this centre point is basically radius of an arc classes we are creating so we need centre point now and then the last step click on the desired endpoint, as a result, our arc is created by start point, centre, and endpoint method. Almost every time in this method start point and endpoint is in the same distance from centre point. This method is used making fillets and making round corners. If you press ENTER without specifying a point, the endpoint of the last drawn line or arc is used and you are immediately prompted to specify the endpoint of the new arc. __TYPE 3:- CREATION OF ARC BY START POINT, CENTRE, ANGLE.__

As shown In the image by this method arc is created by two points i.e. start point and centre and one angle in AutoCAD. Creation of start point and centre point is same as we follow the procedure in the second type of method. Now after clicking on the centre point or we say after giving radius to arc, itâ€™s time to give an angle to arc as full 360 degree makes a full circle and less than 360 degrees classes a circle is said to be an arc when it completed its 360 degrees rotation arc is said to be a circle. So you can give an angle to arc less than 360 not equals to. The arc which is created by giving an angle is major segment arc or minor segment arc is selected according to angle. So this is how we create an arc by two points and one angle in AutoCAD classes.

__TYPE 4:- CREATION OF ARC BY START POINT, CENTRE, LENGTH.__

In this method, an arc is created by two points start and centre point and one length dimension are also given to arc as shown in figure. The distance between start point and centre gives the radius. The other end of the arc is determined by specifying the length of a chord between the start point and the endpoint of the arc. Length of an arc always depends on the length of cord. If the length of cord is crossing the arc than no arc is created, only when cord length is equal or less then arc length then the arc is created by this method in AutoCAD classes. __TYPE 5:- CREATION OF ARC BY START, END, AND ANGLE.__

By this method, we can create an arc by start point endpoint and angle. The included angle between the endpoints of the arc determines the center and the radius of the arc. The procedure of clicking is same as above methods. The angle after making two points determines the curve section of an arc as when angle increase the curve section of an arc also increases or we say the angle of the cord is directly proportional to curve section. __TYPE 6:- CREATION OF ARC BY START, ENDPOINT, AND DIRECTION.__

By this method we can easily create an arc by the start point, end point and one direction of the curve is also given to arc. This is the best way of creating an arc. The tangent direction can be specified either by locating a point on the desired tangent line or by entering an angle. You can determine which endpoint controls the tangent by changing the order in which you specify the two endpoints. Clicking procedure of making start and end point is same but after clicking on endpoint an imaginary line is shown which is given direction to the arc if we increase an angle of line then the direction and arc curve section is also changed. This is how we give direction to an arc in AutoCAD classes.

__TYPE 7:- CREATION OF ARC BY START, ENDPOINT AND A RADIUS.__

This method is widely used in designing an arc as this method need start point endpoint and radius. Start and end point procedure is same but in this case we add radius to an arc. The direction of the bulge of the arc is determined by the order in which you specify its endpoints. You can specify the radius either by entering it or by specifying a point at the desired radius distance. Radius given to an arc is common way of making an arc. This is how we create arc by giving radius to arc.

__TYPE 8:- CREATION OF ARC BY CENTRE, START AND ENDPOINT.__

This is also very common way of creation of an arc in AutoCAD. Firstly we give centre of an arc by clicking on the desired centre point and then we give start point to an arc and that centre point is called the radius of arc we are creating and at last we end point is given by rotating cursor clockwise or anti clockwise. This is the easy method of creating an arc through centre point. This is how we create an arc through centre.

__TYPE 9:- CREATION OF ARC BY CENTRE, START AND ANGLE.__

This method is similar to previous one, after clicking on centre point and start point an angle is given to arc creation as we discuss above arc angle is always less than 360 degrees. Click on the desired angle and you can also input the angle shown on screen. As a result, an arc is created by centre start and angle. This Method is widely used in various institute for training in AutoCAD software in Delhi.

__TYPE 10:- CREATION OF ARC BY CENTRE, START AND LENGTH.__

By this method we can create an arc through centre and length of cord. As we discus above length of cord is directly proportional to curve section of arc. This method is not widely used for creation of an arc. This is the last method for creation of an arc in AutoCAD.
